‘You’ Season 4 Cast: Meet the Potential Victims

‘You’ Season 4 Cast: Meet the Potential Victims

Peach Salinger. The Quinn family. Sherry and Cary Conrad. Wealthy characters loom large in You’s history, because class and privilege are some of the thriller’s main themes. Born working class, Joe Goldberg (Penn Bagley) seems to quite often interact with, and reluctantly befriend, the rich. Many of them, it transpires, end up dead. Season 4 of the show is no exception. But this time, there’s a twist.

In the upcoming season, Part 1 of which launches Feb. 9, You transforms into a murder mystery. Joe is living in London under a new identity, teaching at a local college, and ingratiating himself into an affluent new friend group… when someone named the Eat the Rich Killer starts knocking them off one by one. Joe’s desperate to prove he’s a good man and to protect his new life, which is threatened when the murderer becomes obsessed with him. (Oh how the turntables etc., etc.). So, he takes it upon himself to stop ETRK. The problem is that his posh pals aren’t just potential victims — they’re also potential suspects.

Marienne

Tati Gabrielle as Marienne

Yes, you will see the Chilling Adventures of Sabrina alum as Joe’s love interest Marienne once again. At the end of Season 3, the talented artist and single mother fled to Paris with her daughter to get away from Joe after Love (Victoria Pedretti) told Marienne that Joe murdered her ex. Of course, Joe wasn’t too far behind. It remains to be seen whether or not Marienne will be pleased if (when?) Joe finally catches up to her.

After all, as Gabrielle tells Tudum, women like Marienne will “go through hell and high water to make sure that they save and preserve themselves.”

If you’re anxious to catch up with Gabrielle before You Season 4 launches, you can catch her in Netflix’s Kaleidoscope. She also recently starred in the movie Uncharted

Kate

Charlotte Ritchie as Kate

Gallery director Kate is fearsomely smart, independent, suspicious and immensely loyal to her friends. She’s especially protective of her best friend, Lady Phoebe. Kate prefers “arrangements” to love, which is why she dates fun but self-centered partier Malcolm. When Malcolm invites Joe –– an American outsider of no apparent means –– into their privileged world, Kate not only dislikes him, but strongly suspects that something about him isn’t what it seems.

You may be familiar with Ritchie from Netflix’s Feel Good and UK television including GhostsGrantchesterCall the Midwife, and “Resolution,” the 2019 New Year’s Day episode of Doctor Who.

Lady Phoebe

Tilly Keeper as Lady Phoebe

As sweet and kind as she is rich, famous and chaotic, Phoebe’s every bikini wax has been documented by the tabloids since she was 15 years old. An aristocratic socialite with an avid fan base, Phoebe’s true colors show when she’s alone with her friends. She’s a steadfast cheerleader for them, especially American entrepreneur boyfriend Adam. She’s also a wild card: When misfortune strikes, will she rise to the occasion or shatter?

No matter what happens, Keeper teases that Lady Phoebe is ready to support Joe. “He’s got a little confidant, a little companion in Phoebe. And she’s the last person you’d expect for him to strike up a friendship with,” she says.

After rising to fame on the legendary BBC soap EastEnders,Keeper recently starred in the movies Marooned Awakening, R.I.P.D. 2: Rise of the Damned and Make Me Famous.

Adam

Lukas Gage as Adam

The youngest son of an East Coast magnate, Adam is famous for failing to meet his family’s standards. He’s a warm party host and fast friend, but underneath that outgoing exterior, he’s hiding a trove of secrets. Determined to prove himself, he takes risky swings, living by the adage that a good businessman does absolutely anything to get richer. Does he love Phoebe, or is he using her? He’s obviously manipulating all his friends — the only question is, how far would he go?

“Adam tends to be the loudest [person] in the room,” Gage tells Tudum. “But you know what they say about the loudest in the room? They tend to be the most lonely in the room.”

TV viewers may remember Gage as Dillon the bellhop on The White Lotus, Derek on Love, Victor or Tyler on Euphoria. He can next be seen on HBO Max’s Dead Boy Detectives and in the film How to Blow Up a Pipeline.

Nadia

Amy-Leigh Hickman as Nadia

A literature major with a love of genre storytelling and highbrow aspirations, Nadia’s outspokenness and intensity are a perfect cover for her insecurities. She’s made some big mistakes in her past, which now threaten to destroy her life. She’ll need help to get through it, even if that means turning to the wrong people for aid. Hickman describes her character as “small and mighty” — so never doubt Nadia’s moxie.

As one of Joe’s students, Nadia is a counterbalance to the clueless rich people in his private life. “We always try to give you somebody more grounded and relatable for Joe,” showrunner Sera Gamble tells Tudum. “Nadia, she’s both the young person that he cares a lot about in his mentoring, for better and for worse, and she also reminds him a lot of himself.”

Before You, Hickman had prominent roles in Our GirlStrike Back and Netflix’s Safe.

Rhys

Ed Speleers as Rhys

The Outlander alum portrays Rhys, an author whose memoir garnered him acclaim — and pressure to launch a political career. Born into poverty, Rhys had a traumatic early life before attending Oxford and making all the right friends. Now, he moves easily in any social circle, while also seeing through those around him. He doesn’t have much time for partying, though –– he enjoys staying in touch with his eccentric circle of university friends. After all, they were there for him during his “checkered past,” to quote Speleers.

“Rhys is a guy who has a fierce curiosity about the world, who wants to understand people and humanity,” Speleers says. “He wants to put across the idea that everybody has things in their life that they might not be proud of, but they are all worthy of getting a second chance.”

Speleers got his big break in the movie Eragon, before going on to TV roles like Downton Abbey and Wolf Hall, and films like Alice Through the Looking GlassRemainder and The House That Jack Built. Up next: the upcoming season of Star Trek: Picard.

Tom Lockwood

Greg Kinnear as Tom Lockwood in You Season 4

Introduced in Part 2 of Season 4, Tom is Kate’s uber rich father, aka “the worst man alive,” according to his very own daughter. As Kate explains to Joe in Episode 4, Tom is an “activist investor” (read: corporate raider) who has his hands in almost every industry possible, which also makes him “one of the most powerful men on the planet.” Although he carries his immense power lightly and disarms people with his natural charm and unassailable logic, it’s worth remembering that no one reaches his status without some shady dealings.

“I think he plays that kind of charisma really, really well,” Ritchie tells Tudum about sharing scenes with the Emmy Award–winning actor. “He’s a great match at the table with Joe. In many ways, he has that same magnetism and ability to say pretty terrifying things in a very kind of matter-of-fact way.”

An Academy Award nominee, Kinnear was most recently seen in Starz’s Shining Vale and Apple TV+’s Black Bird. His decades-long filmography also includes House of Cards, You’ve Got Mail and Little Miss Sunshine

Sophie

Niccy Lin as Sophie

Sophie has the mind of an entrepreneur and the body of a pampered jet-setter. Sure, from social media it looks like she just lays around in a bikini, but every aspect of her feed represents cannily negotiated, high-end sponsorship deals. Underneath her whimsical exterior, Sophie is a watchful protector of her introverted artist brother, Simon.

Lin previously appeared on The Great and in Official Secrets.

Simon

Aidan Cheng as Simon

Simon is impossible to impress and abhors small talk and strangers. The Oxford-educated son of a Chinese tech magnate, Simon proved the world wrong when, despite his wealth and sheltered life, he showed himself to be an artist worthy of acclaim.

Cheng made his television debut on Hulu’s Harlots. Since then, he’s starred in Sky’s Devils and Starz’s The Girlfriend Experience
